1949 d Kangaroo No watermark coil perf 'mellow-yellow' shade

1949 d Kangaroo No watermark coil perf 'mellow-yellow' shade (image at left) from the unique sheet discovered in Melbourne in 1997, believed to have originally been purchased at Melbourne Philatelic Bureau in 1953. The sheet has largely been dispersed since 1997 and this remarkable shade has subsequently proven very popular. Recent auction realisations have included the imprint block of eight sold in Melbourne (14 Aug 2004) for $3248, or approximately $400 per unit. Offered is a single unmounted mint accompanied by Brusden-White Certificate (1997) indicating position in original sheet.
