Reprint of 1911 Stamp Design competition Composite Essay

Reprint of 1911 Stamp Design competition Composite Essay. In 1911 a Mr Grant of Wonthaggi (Vic) entered five designs in the official competition to select a Commonwealth stamp series. A single printed example of three of those five designs has survived and are catalogued in the 4th edition of BW's Kangaroos (2004) as E107-09 (catalogue $2500 each). Mr Grant's original letterpress printing block also survives and, prior to donating this to the Australia Post Archive, we produced by letterpress from that printing block 100 sets of six in different colours on glazed cardpaper, sequentially numbered. (This set Nş 82). This series is illustrated and detailed in Kangaroos at page 1/393 Item #: 00009284
